Subject: Perishable Items and Food Left in USC Housing
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we address the impact of COVID-19. This message is to notify you that USC Housing will be conducting health and safety checks during the week of April 6 – 10. All spaces will be entered by USC Housing staff looking for open food items and other perishables. Inspections will include all refrigerator and freezer units. Our inspection process will be in compliance with your housing contract and will work as follows:
- In units made for multiple residents, where at least one resident remains with permission from USC Student Affairs, USC Housing staff will call the remaining resident to schedule inspection appointments.
- In single units where the sole occupant is still in residence, no inspection is required at this time.
USC Housing staff will dispose of any open or perishable food items and clean any area that may have become soiled by a perishable item. This is necessary to ensure basic health and safety standards in the residential facilities.
USC Housing will not provide compensation for or replacement of any food item or container that must be discarded in this process nor charge for any cleaning and disposal services.
Thank you for your understanding. We hope to provide more information soon regarding personal belongings.
Please communicate any concerns to the USC Housing Customer Service Center.
