Re: Confirmed Case of COVID-19 (Off-campus, Orange County)

We have received notification that a USC undergraduate student—who recently returned from international travel and arrived directly in Orange County—has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The patient has not been on or near the USC campuses. The individual is in good condition and is currently in self-isolation at home under guidance of public health officials.

We are currently proactively contacting any individuals who may have had an exposure. In the coming weeks as COVID-19 testing becomes more widely available, all USC students, faculty, and staff should be advised of the processes below:

  • USC advises persons who may have concerns to call the COVID-19 Hotline: 213-740-6291Additional answers to questions on what to do next are available on the COVID-19 website.
  • All individuals who may have had close contact exposure will be required to self-isolate.
  • The university will assist in any necessary temporary relocation of students and their close contacts.

Further updates will be shared with the community via email, please check your USC email regularly.
