Influenza and COVID-19 cases increase in LA County

1-4-2024

We have seen an expected increase in influenza and COVID-19 cases at the LA County level, as people have returned from seasonal travel and gatherings. This follows a similar trend as in previous years when returns from travel and the increase in contact between people can lead to an uptick in cases.

Campus COVID-19 protocols remain consistent with the systems in place from the previous academic year. The following reminders can serve to help reduce illness and help us navigate this winter respiratory illness season. It is especially important to stay home from classes and activities if you are sick, and to test with an antigen kit (available from the CSC desks in USC Housing, the USC Bookstores, and the Engemann and Eric Cohen Health Centers). Kits are available at no cost to students, faculty and staff.

Flu vaccinations by Student Health continue for students on both campuses (an outdoor tent will be available at Engemann Plaza beginning on January 16); and USC Pharmacies is providing influenza vaccinations on both campuses for faculty and staff.
